TVS Ronin 225: TVS Motor Company has finally pulled the wraps off the updated Ronin 225, giving its genre-bending motorcycle a comprehensive refresh nearly three years after its initial launch. The 2025 model, unveiled yesterday at a media event in Goa, brings meaningful updates to the powertrain, enhanced technology features, and fresh styling elements while maintaining the distinctive scrambler-meets-cruiser aesthetic that has carved a unique niche in India’s competitive motorcycle market.
TVS Ronin 225: Engine Refinements: More Power, Better Refinement
The heart of the Ronin – its 225.9cc single-cylinder engine – receives subtle but meaningful upgrades. Power output sees a modest bump to 22.5bhp (up from 20.4bhp) while torque increases marginally to 20.4Nm. The gains might seem incremental on paper, but the revised engine mapping and redesigned airbox deliver more meaningful real-world improvements, particularly in mid-range response.
“We’ve focused on enhancing the torque curve rather than chasing headline power figures,” explains K.N. Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO of TVS Motor Company. “The Ronin was never about outright performance – it’s about delivering accessible power in a refined package. The 2025 model takes this philosophy further with improved throttle response and noticeably less vibration at highway cruising speeds.”
The 5-speed gearbox has been retained, though TVS claims to have improved shift quality through revised linkages and a recalibrated slipper clutch. First and second gear ratios have been shortened slightly to improve acceleration from a standstill, addressing customer feedback about the somewhat lazy initial response of the original model.
Tech Upgrades That Actually Matter
TVS Ronin 225 On the technology front, the 2025 Ronin receives a completely redesigned instrument cluster. While maintaining the circular shape that complements the bike’s neo-retro aesthetic, it now features a full-color TFT display with enhanced Bluetooth connectivity. The updated TVS SmartXonnect system adds turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, and voice command functionality to the existing suite of connected features.
“The tech upgrades aren’t just about adding features for the sake of a longer specification sheet,” notes Meghashyam Dighole, Head of Marketing at TVS. “We’ve implemented changes that genuinely enhance the ownership experience based on extensive feedback from existing Ronin riders.”
Other noteworthy tech additions include a USB-C charging port tucked neatly under the handlebar, enhanced LED lighting with a distinctive new DRL signature, and the introduction of ride modes (Urban and Rain) that adjust throttle response and ABS intervention based on conditions.
Subtle Styling Tweaks, Bold New Colors
TVS Ronin 225 : Visually, the 2025 Ronin maintains its distinctive silhouette while incorporating subtle refinements. The T-shaped LED headlamp gets a sleeker housing, the fuel tank features more pronounced knee recesses, and the seat has been redesigned with improved cushioning and a textured cover that provides better grip during spirited riding.
“The design updates were deliberately restrained,” explains Vinay Harne, President of New Product Introduction at TVS. “Our customers consistently praised the Ronin’s unique aesthetic, so we focused on enhancing rather than reinventing. The changes might appear subtle individually, but collectively they give the bike a more refined presence.”
Four new color schemes join the lineup, including the striking “Sunset Orange” with bronze accents showcased prominently at the launch event. Each color variant gets unique graphic treatments, with the top-spec model featuring gold-anodized front fork tubes that add a premium touch.

Improved Ergonomics and Rider Comfort
Rider comfort receives attention with revised ergonomics. The handlebar is now 10mm wider and positioned slightly higher, providing better leverage during low-speed maneuvers without compromising highway cruising comfort. The footpegs have been relocated 15mm forward and 8mm lower, resulting in a more relaxed riding position that better aligns with the Ronin’s laid-back character.
The suspension components have been retuned, with the USD front forks featuring revised damping rates and the rear monoshock gaining 7-step preload adjustability to better accommodate varying rider weights and luggage configurations. Ground clearance remains unchanged at 181mm, preserving the bike’s ability to tackle rough urban roads with confidence.
